Shortcuts like Ctrl D, Ctrl P, etc. not working on Windows 11

After upgrading my PC to Windows 11, I faced the following issues.

  1. Keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+D, Ctrl+P, Ctrl+R, etc., not working in any app, i.e. globally.
  2. Alt → or Alt ← not working, which usually takes care of Back and Forward functionalities, in modern browsers, Win Explorer, etc.

Enabling keyboard shortcuts for Back/Forward navigation

I am in India, and the default India QWERTY keyboard does not provide this shortcut functionality (at least, that is what I experienced). Changing the keyboard to US QWERTY enables the keyboard shortcuts for back/forward navigation.

  1. Click Win icon in taskbar.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Go to Time & Language > Language & region.
  4. Check if the language set is English (United States).
  5. If it is NOT English (United States), click on Add a language, search for English (United States), click Add. (See Image 1 below)
  6. Either remove the previous language by clicking > Remove, OR move the new language up as your preferred language by clicking > Move up.
  7. In English (United States), click and go to Language options.
  8. Scroll to Keyboards section. You should see US QWERTY as your installed keyboards. (Image 2)
  9. If your keyboard is not set as US QWERTY, click on Add a keyboard, search and add US QWERTY as your keyboard. (Image 3)

That’s it.

Fix Ctrl+D/R/P/etc. keyboard shortcuts

The shortcuts were being overridden by another software: TinyTake. I went to its Settings window > Hot Keys / Shortcuts, and disabled all the default shortcuts.

That’s it.
